From routine examinations and preventive treatments to personalised oral health advice, we help children develop healthy habits for life in a calm, supportive environment, while giving parents confidence in their child’s dental health.
Consultant Paediatric Dentist in Wilmslow
Every child deserves dental care that reflects their individual needs. Our private children’s dental service is led by Dr Lewis Hua, our Paediatric Specialist and Consultant, who cares for children of all ages up to 16, including those with complex medical conditions, additional needs or dental anxiety.
We take time to understand each child and adapt appointments to help them feel as comfortable and confident as possible. Inhalation sedation may be available if suitable, for children who need additional support, and our private service provides an alternative to NHS dental waiting lists.
We also offer specialist treatment for a range of children’s dental concerns, including:
Our aim is to provide thoughtful, effective care while helping children build confidence in their dental health as they grow.
Molar-Incisor Hypomineralisation (MIH)
This condition occurs when the enamel does not form properly, leaving it softer or weaker than normal. Affected teeth may appear white, yellow or brown and can be more sensitive to hot and cold foods and drinks, or to brushing.
Weakened enamel is also more susceptible to wear, tooth decay and chipping. Early assessment allows us to identify the problem and recommend appropriate treatment to protect the teeth and minimise discomfort.

Orthodontic Extractions
We provide orthodontic extractions for children and teenagers under 16 when recommended as part of their orthodontic treatment plan. Dr Lewis Hua works closely with the referring orthodontist to ensure treatment is carefully coordinated and tailored to your child’s individual needs.
We understand that dental extractions can feel daunting for children, so we take a gentle and supportive approach to help them feel comfortable throughout their visit. Where clinically appropriate, inhalation sedation (gas and air) may be offered to help anxious children feel more relaxed during treatment.
Dental Trauma
Falls, sports injuries and other accidents can cause damage to a child’s teeth, gums and surrounding tissues. Dr. Lewis Hua provides careful assessment and management of dental injuries, including chipped or broken teeth, displaced teeth and teeth that have been knocked out.
Prompt assessment is important to determine the extent of the injury and identify the most appropriate treatment. We provide gentle, supportive care, alongside clear advice and reassurance for both children and their parents.
The effects of dental trauma may not become apparent until weeks or months after an injury. For this reason, we arrange ongoing monitoring of affected teeth to identify any delayed changes and provide further treatment if needed.

Gas and Air for anxious children
Inhalation sedation uses a carefully controlled mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen to help children feel calmer and more relaxed during dental treatment. The mixture is breathed in through a small, comfortable nose mask. Your child remains awake, conscious and able to communicate throughout the procedure.
The level of sedation can be adjusted to suit your child’s needs. At the end of treatment, oxygen is administered to help the nitrous oxide clear from the body, allowing a rapid recovery.
Inhalation sedation can be particularly helpful for children who feel anxious about dental treatment. When appropriate, it can make procedures such as fillings, hygiene appointments and extractions more manageable.
Our team takes a compassionate, individual approach to every child, providing a calm, supportive environment where concerns are taken seriously and families are treated without judgement.
Early orthodontic assessment for children
Some orthodontic problems are easier to address while a child is still growing. An early assessment allows us to evaluate jaw development, the position of emerging permanent teeth and the way the bite is forming. We can then advise whether early intervention may be beneficial or whether monitoring and treatment at a later stage would be more appropriate.
Not every child needs early orthodontic treatment. If we identify concerns such as crowding, a developing crossbite or habits that may affect the bite, we explain our findings clearly and recommend the most appropriate next steps.
When the time is right for orthodontic treatment, our Orthodontic specialist, Dr. Joe Bell, can offer further options, including Invisalign clear aligners where suitable for teenagers.
